This module contains a fast ARM processor, a big RAM memory and a flash module. Together with the programmer you can load your own applications into this module, for example applications to:

Based on SIDSA´s powerful proprietary MACDVB multimedia engine several CAS systems can be implemented on a single CI module offering the end user complete flexibility. Additional services such as Home Banking, EPGs (Electronic Program Guides) and Video Games can also be executed in any decoder, or Set Top Box via the Common Interface (CI). Thus a customer does not have to purchase a different decoder or Set Top Box for every additional service as customisation is achieved simply by inserting the EXCIS module in the Common Interface slot. Based on the MACtsp multimedia engine SIDSA has developed a DVB Common Interface Conditional Access Module, MACcam, that is compatible with commercial CA systems that are available on the market today.

All of MACcam products are based on a standard hardware platform and firmware giving flexibility of final application and cost reduction. Advanced design methodology permits both single and multiple CA systems to be ported on a single CAM a feature that is unique in the market today.

As security is the key issue to success for content providers SIDSA controls the complete supply chain, including manufacturing. Each CA system is individually "signed" during production assuring that the end product is safe from unwanted reproduction.

The NDS Point of Deployment (POD) solution guarantees the security of digital services while enabling subscribers to purchase the STB model they desire. Developed for the U.S. cable market, OpenCable™ PODs are removable, replaceable modules which encapsulate conditional access and security functionality. The POD is a self-contained unit. NDS, working with SCM Microsystems, was the first security vendor to demonstrate an OpenCable™ POD module. Rather than embed all security and conditional access functions in the POD, NDS prefers to use secure and easily replaceable viewing cards. Therefore, NDS PODs include a viewing card slot, and work with a standard NDS viewing card to provide additional security and conditional access features.
